Aaron Chia supports Indonesia Open format change proposal

Malaysian doubles badminton player Aaron Chia has responded positively to BWF’s proposal regarding changes to the Indonesia Open tournament format.

The proposal includes two significant changes — an increase in total prize money and extension of competition duration from six to eleven days. This new format will be applied to four BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournaments:

• Malaysia Open
• All England Open
• Indonesia Open
• China Open

“Increasing prize money is certainly good for all players,” said Aaron Chia, who recently won the 2025 Asian Championship title with Soh Wooi Yik.
