After a slight last-minute drama leading up to today’s transfer deadline, Bayern Munich has finally reached an agreement to sign Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea on a loan deal until the end of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season.

Initial negotiations between the two clubs were challenging due to several factors, including the terms of the transfer and Chelsea’s limited attacking options following an injury to striker Liam Delap. However, persistence from Jackson’s management team strengthened Bayern’s resolve to finalize the agreement with Chelsea.

According to reports from prominent media sources, including Fabrizio Romano, the loan deal is worth €15.6 million and there is a specific clause requiring Bayern to sign Jackson permanently for €65 million if he meets a predetermined number of appearances outlined in the contract.

Jackson will wear the number 11 shirt that previously worn by Kingsley Coman, who moved to Al-Nassr earlier this season. With star player Jamal Musiala being sidelined for a lengthy period of time, Jackson is expected to become an important part in Vincent Kompany’s attacking plans, supporting Bayern’s frontline, which feature Luis Díaz, Michael Olise, and Harry Kane.

More to come

Jackson’s arrival is unlikely to be Bayern’s last move, as the club continues to bring in other attacking reinforcements. One of the most strongly linked candidates is Ademola Lookman, currently playing as a forward for Atalanta in Serie A.

This move, however, is unlikely to materialize imminently, given the availability of transfer window. Nevertheless, Bayern remains highly interested in Lookman and is expected to pursue his signature again during the winter transfer window.

On the other hand, Chelsea have sorted their attacking shortage by securing a loan deal for Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton. With his versatility, Buonanotte is expected to partner with the prolific João Pedro, who has been instrumental in building Chelsea’s attacks in their last two matches.
