The Red Devils have not closed the door on new additions ahead of this summer’s transfer deadline.

The 2025 summer transfer window is about to close, but Manchester United has not yet raised the white flag. Although they have already signed a number of new players, Erik ten Hag is reportedly still eyeing several names to strengthen the squad. Several sectors are considered to need additional players so that the team’s performance remains competitive in the face of this season’s packed schedule.

Here are four players who are strongly linked as candidates for MU’s last signings in this transfer window.

Senne Lammens : Long-Term Solution in Goalkeeper Position

MU is reportedly getting closer to securing Senne Lammens’ signature. This young Belgian goalkeeper is considered a suitable long-term solution for the goalkeeper position. Andre Onana’s inconsistent performance has forced management to look for a backup as well as a main competitor.

According to Transfermarkt data, Lammens’ market value is currently €9 million. However, recent reports from English media state that Royal Antwerp is only willing to release him for around €20 million. The Guardian reported that a deal is almost complete, while The Times added that a personal agreement between MU and the player has been reached. In fact, Lammens is said to not be included in Antwerp’s latest squad list, a strong signal that this transfer is close to finalization.

Jean-Clair Todibo : Solid Alternative for the Backline

In addition to the goalkeeper position, the backline is also a concern for MU. Injuries to several defenders mean that Erik ten Hag needs additional ammunition in the defensive sector. Jean-Clair Todibo, a tough French defender, is on the radar. Todibo excels in aerial duels and ball distribution from the back, two important aspects of Ten Hag’s playing scheme.

Transfermarkt estimates Todibo’s current market value at €30 million. This figure is quite high, and is one of the main obstacles to realizing this transfer. In addition, competition with other clubs means MU must move quickly if they really want to secure the services of this 25-year-old defender. Until now, negotiations have not entered a concrete stage, so the chances are still 50-50.

Joshua Zirkzee : New Option in Striker Position

Manchester United is also reportedly looking for additional players in the attacking line. The name Joshua Zirkzee, a Dutch striker, has re-emerged as a target. This 24-year-old striker performed impressively with Bologna in Serie A last season, scoring a number of important goals and showing flexibility in attack.

Transfermarkt notes Zirkzee’s market value reaches €45 million. A quite expensive price for MU, considering they have already made several big purchases this season. Even so, MU is still monitoring Zirkzee’s situation as a backup option if their main target fails to materialize. Until now, the rumors are still limited to interest without official negotiation steps.

Joao Neves :  Energetic Midfielder with Great Potential

The last name on the target list is Joao Neves, Benfica’s talented young midfielder. This 20-year-old player has an extraordinary ability to maintain midfield balance, regulate game rhythm, and is also skilled at breaking down opponent attacks. It’s no wonder Neves is a target for many elite European clubs.

Transfermarkt values Neves at €55 million. Benfica is also reluctant to release their young star unless they receive a fantastic offer. This situation makes MU’s chances of signing Neves in this transfer window almost impossible. Nevertheless, MU’s interest in Neves indicates that the club is still thinking about a long-term plan to strengthen the midfield.

Looking at the current situation, Senne Lammens is the most realistic candidate to join Old Trafford. The negotiations that have gone far and the signals from Royal Antwerp make this transfer almost certain to happen before the transfer window closes. Todibo, Zirkzee, and Neves are more difficult to realize due to factors of price, time, and competition.

Manchester United is racing against time. The transfer window will close soon, and all eyes are on the last step the Red Devils will take. Will Senne Lammens be the last signing, or will there be a big surprise in the final moments?
