7 New Players That Made Arsenal Spend Nearly €293 Million

Mikel Arteta dan rekrutan baru Arsenal musim panas 2025 setelah klub habiskan €293 juta untuk tujuh pemain.

Arsenal made significant moves in the summer 2025 transfer window. To strengthen the squad and be ready to compete in the Premier League and Champions League, The Gunners brought in seven new players at a total cost of almost €293 million. Here is the complete list of players that made Arsenal one of the biggest spending clubs in Europe this season.

Kepa Arrizabalaga – £5 million

Arsenal signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea for around £5 million through his release clause. His arrival is not to replace David Raya as the first choice, but it is important as an experienced backup between the sticks. The reason Arsenal signed Kepa is clear: last season the team struggled when the main goalkeeper was injured. With a packed schedule in the league, domestic cups, and Champions League, Arteta needed a quality backup goalkeeper.

Martín Zubimendi – €65 million (£55.8 million)

The first big transfer was the arrival of Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for approximately €65 million. The Spanish midfielder was officially introduced on July 6, 2025, and is projected to be the engine of the midfield. The reason Arsenal brought him in is because they needed a “playmaker” who could control the tempo and bridge the defense and attack. Zubimendi also fits Arteta’s philosophy of emphasizing ball possession.

Christian Nørgaard – £10 million (+£2 million add-ons)

From Brentford, Arsenal brought in Christian Nørgaard for an initial fee of £10 million, plus performance bonuses up to £2 million. The Danish player has proven himself in the Premier League and will add balance to the midfield. The main reason Arsenal signed him is his experience and discipline. Nørgaard can be a replacement when Partey is absent and provides more options to control the game against big teams.

Noni Madueke – £48.5 million (can rise to £52 million)

Arsenal strengthened their attack by signing Noni Madueke from Chelsea for £48.5 million, with the potential to rise to £52 million. This young English winger is expected to provide attacking variations on both the right and left flanks. The reason for his recruitment is clear: Arteta wants balanced rotation in the wide areas. Last season, Arsenal relied heavily on Bukayo Saka. With Madueke, Arteta can maintain game intensity without overworking Saka.

Cristhian Mosquera – €15 million (£13 million)

To strengthen the defense, Arsenal acquired Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia for approximately €15 million. Despite his young age, Mosquera is considered a long-term investment. The reason Arsenal signed him is to add squad depth in the backline. Last season, Saliba’s absence caused Arsenal to lose defensive stability. Mosquera can be an important rotation option and develop into a key defender in the future.

Viktor Gyökeres – £55 million (can rise to £63.5 million)

This is the most talked-about transfer: Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP. Arsenal spent £55 million as an initial fee, with a potential total of up to £63.5 million including add-ons. The Swedish striker is projected to be the main goal-scoring machine. The reason Arsenal signed him is very simple: they needed a pure finisher. Last season, Arsenal often wasted golden opportunities because they lacked a striker with predatory instincts. Gyökeres is expected to be a real solution in front of goal.

Eberechi Eze – £67.5 million

Arsenal closed the transfer window with a big transfer for Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace worth around £67.5 million. This creative midfielder will add attacking variety in the midfield. The reason Arteta signed Eze is to add creativity as well as depth. Last season, Arsenal relied too much on Ødegaard to build attacks. With Eze, Arsenal has another option for creating chances and disrupting opponent defenses.

Big Spending for Trophies

With these seven new players, Arsenal’s total spending in the summer of 2025 reached nearly €293 million. From backup goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, winger, to striker, all sectors have been strengthened. Mikel Arteta now has a squad with extraordinary depth, and the classic excuse of a thin squad no longer applies. This season, the target is clear: Arsenal must fiercely compete for the Premier League title. If not, this big spending could backfire on Arteta. But if successful, this will be the start of a new era of Arsenal glory after a 20-year wait.
