Paper Rex’s new star player, Patrick “PatMen” Mendoza, is reportedly facing serious issues with the legal documentation required to compete in the upcoming Champions Paris tournament, which is set for September 12th.

Thanks to their outstanding performance, the Singaporean giant has already secured enough points to finish at the top of the VCT Pacific standings. While PRX still have one more match to play, the result will not affect their top-seed status.

Consequently, the team has begun focusing on paperwork needed for France, including securing visas. And regarding this, PatMen has informed his fans that he is now wondering if he can complete it in his home country, the Philippines.

During his recent livestreams and the Pacific Stage 2 press conference, he repeatedly said that he is working hard to navigate the strict Schengen visa application process but is uncertain it will be completed in time. Even more surprising: his teammates Jason “f0rsaken” Susanto and Ilya “something” Petrov are facing similar issues.

This is a clear major concern for the team, as Schengen visa processing is often lengthy in many countries. And given that similar visa problems have blocked top teams and players their participation in the VCT circuit in recent years, this is far from a trivial matter.

Not just Paper Rex..

The other two SEA finalists, RRQ and Talon Esports, seem to share the same concerns. For Talon, the race against time is even more critical, as their slot at Champions will not be officially confirmed until after August 30th.

For RRQ, their Indonesian players, Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha and David “Xffero” Monangin, must also use their spare time to secure their visas promptly. However, considering RRQ’s strong track record of preparing their players for international events, it is most unlikely they will fail to join their team in Paris.

RRQ, Talon Esports, and PRX are all scheduled to compete in the VCT Pacific Stage 2 weekend finals on August 30th and 31st in Tokyo, Japan. The event is definitely one to watch, as the fate of two teams depends on its outcome.
