Liverpool Legend! Mohamed Salah Officially Scoops PFA Player of the Year 2025

Muhammed Salah

Manchester, August 19, 2025 – Another brilliant achievement has been etched by Mohamed Salah. The Liverpool forward has officially won the PFA Men’s Players’ Player of the Year 2024–25, making him the first player in history to win this prestigious award three times—after previous successes in the 2017-18 and 2021-22 seasons.

Mohamed Salah Hamed Mahrous Ghaly, or more commonly known as Mohamed Salah, was born on June 15, 1992, in Nagrig, Egypt. From a young age, he grew up in a humble family and developed a deep love for football. Despite coming from a small village, his talent made him stand out and paved the way for his international career.

Salah began his professional career with El Mokawloon (Arab Contractors) in the Egyptian League in 2010. His agile and quick performances quickly caught attention. In 2012, he got a golden opportunity to join the Swiss club, FC Basel, and immediately made a big impact by leading the club to a league title and performing impressively in European competitions. Basel became an important stepping stone in Salah’s journey to the highest level.

Mohamed Salah’s Journey

In 2014, Chelsea signed Mohamed Salah after seeing his performance at Basel. However, his career in London did not go smoothly due to a lack of playing time. Nevertheless, Chelsea remained Salah’s entry point into the Premier League. He was then loaned to Fiorentina and AS Roma, where his performance shone again.

In Roma, Salah rediscovered his touch by scoring many goals and assists, making him one of the most dangerous wingers in Serie A.

The peak of Salah’s journey came in the summer of 2017 when Liverpool signed him for a transfer fee of around €42 million (a club record at the time). His arrival was initially doubted, given his less successful experience at Chelsea. However, under Jürgen Klopp, Salah immediately silenced all critics. In his debut season, he scored 32 goals in the 2017/18 Premier League, breaking the league record for the most goals in a season since the 38-game format was implemented.

Since then, Mohamed Salah has become a Liverpool icon. He led the club to win the Champions League 2019, Premier League 2019/20, and various other domestic titles. His consistent performance earned him the nickname “King of Egypt” by Anfield fans. Season after season, Salah continued to be Liverpool’s goal-scoring machine and attacking engine, forming a deadly trio with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané.

Salah and PFA Player of the Year

Mohamed Salah’s dominance in the Premier League received the highest recognition through the PFA Men’s Players’ Player of the Year award—a trophy voted directly by fellow professional footballers in England. This award is considered the most prestigious because it is given based on the votes of colleagues and opponents, not a panel of judges or the media, thus truly reflecting the respect among players. Salah first won this award in the 2017/18 season, his debut season with Liverpool. At that time, he scored 32 goals in the Premier League, breaking the record for the most goals in a single 38-game season. This achievement also confirmed that his transfer from AS Roma was a brilliant move for Liverpool, despite initial doubts due to his less successful experience at Chelsea.

His second award came in the 2021/22 season, when Salah again performed exceptionally with 23 goals and 13 assists in the league. That season, he not only won the Golden Boot but also the Playmaker Award, proving himself as a complete player: a goal scorer and an attacking creator. This dominance led him to be considered one of the best right wingers in the world.

The culmination, the 2024/25 season, placed Salah in the history books. He scored 29 goals and 18 assists, leading Liverpool to win the Premier League with a convincing lead. Moreover, Salah also became the first player in a single season to achieve the Golden Boot, Playmaker Award, Premier League Player of the Season, and PFA Player of the Year simultaneously. A nearly impossible feat never achieved by any player before (Reuters,  20/08).With three PFA Player of the Year awards (2017/18, 2021/22, 2024/25), Mohamed Salah has officially become the first player in English football history to achieve this record. He surpassed legendary names such as Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kevin De Bruyne, who only managed to win it twice. This achievement not only solidifies his status as a Liverpool icon but also places him among the eternal legends of the Premier League.
