Ludogorets vs Ferencvaros: UEFA Champions League Prediction (06.08.2025)

On August 6, 2025, at 19:30 CET, the first leg of the Champions League qualification semifinals between Ludogorets and Ferencvaros will take place. Bookmakers consider the opponents to be roughly equal in strength. We will look at the current form of the teams and give our prediction for the game.

Ludogorets

The champions of Bulgaria had a weak pre-season, failing to win a single friendly match. Nevertheless, the start of the official season has been much more confident. The team began the league campaign with three consecutive victories and also successfully passed two rounds of Champions League qualification.

First, Ludogorets met Minsk Dynamo: a narrow 1–0 home win and a 1–2 loss away. The outcome was decided in extra time, where the Bulgarians pushed through their opponent. In the next round, the club faced another tense matchup – against Croatian side Rijeka. Again everything went into extra time, in which Ludogorets were helped by two red cards for the opponent. So far, the Champions League path for the Bulgarian club has been extremely tough – every tie requires maximum effort and goes down to the wire.

Ferencvaros

The champions of Hungary approached the season in excellent form: the team won all of their pre-season matches. Their last defeat dates back to February, when they lost to Czech side Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League playoffs. Since then, they have shown consistent results.

In the new domestic league campaign, the Hungarians started with a draw against MTK Budapest (1–1), before confidently defeating Kazincbarcika 3–0. In Champions League qualification, the “Green Eagles” began in the second round against Azerbaijani club Noah. The first leg away ended in a 2–1 win for Ferencvaros, but the home match was not easy: they won 4–3 in a thrilling and tense goal shootout. Despite the result, their progression to the next round cannot be called completely convincing – the team showed attacking potential but also made plenty of defensive errors.

Stats and Head-to-Head Record

The opponents have met six times, four of which came in the second half of 2019. First, they clashed in Champions League qualification. Ferencvaros went through, winning both matches – 2–1 and 3–2. Three months later they met again in the Europa League group stage. This time Ludogorets were stronger – 3–0 away and a 1–1 draw in Bulgaria. They also met in friendlies in 2021 and 2022, both won by Ferencvaros – 3–1 and 3–0.
