Alex Palou dominates Laguna Seca race towards IndyCar title

Alex Palou showcased his dominance in the IndyCar Series race at Laguna Seca — leading 84 of 95 total laps to secure his eighth victory this season.

California native Nolan Siegel briefly led for 11 laps early in the race with an alternate strategy, but Palou captured the lead on lap 37 and remained unchallenged until the finish.

“What an amazing job by everybody at CGR, Honda, DHL, for giving us everything we needed to be as fast as we were,” said Palou. “Laguna Seca is one of my favorite tracks and I couldn’t be happier right now.”

Christian Lundgaard finished second with a 3.7965-second gap, while Colton Herta completed the podium. Pato O’Ward — Palou’s closest championship rival — had to settle for fourth position.

Several incidents occurred throughout the race, including crashes involving:

  • Kyffin Simpson and Felix Rosenqvist at turn 6
  • Jacob Abel who experienced brake issues at turn 2
  • Rinus VeeKay who was stranded in turn 3 runoff

The IndyCar Series will continue at the BitNile.com Grand Prix of Portland — the final road course race of the 2025 season.
