Calvin Verdonk absent as NEC Nijmegen loses to PAOK in friendly match

Indonesian national team star Calvin Verdonk was not included in NEC Nijmegen’s squad that faced PAOK FC in a friendly match in Belgium yesterday.

Dick Schreuder’s team had to acknowledge the superiority of the Greek club with a final score of 2-3 — a match characterized by alternating leads between both teams.

The match began with Andrija Zivkovic’s early goal for PAOK in the 9th minute, but Tjaronn Cherry managed to equalize for NEC in the 20th minute. Giannis Konstantelias put PAOK back ahead before halftime.

Mees Hoedemakers briefly leveled the score at 2-2 in the 50th minute, but Taison Barcello Freda — a striker from last season’s third-placed Greek League team — secured PAOK’s victory with his goal in the 70th minute.

Verdonk’s absence from NEC Nijmegen’s squad list drew public attention after the match.
