Arne Slot considers converting Liverpool midfielders to defenders

According to Bolasport.com, coach Arne Slot revealed a unique solution to Liverpool’s defensive issues — converting two midfielders into defenders.

The Reds just suffered a 2-4 defeat against AC Milan in yesterday’s preseason match. Liverpool’s defense appeared vulnerable — particularly when facing counterattacks and individual errors from Kostas Tsimikas and Giorgi Mamardashvili.

AC Milan’s goals were scored by Rafael Leao (10th minute), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (52), and two goals from Noah Okafor (59, 90+4). Meanwhile, Liverpool only managed to respond through Dominik Szoboszlai (26) and Cody Gakpo (90+3).

“We don’t need new defenders in this summer transfer window,” Slot stated firmly when asked about plans to strengthen the team’s defensive line.
