Tsunoda Shines in Belgian GP Qualifying Thanks to New Car Upgrade

Yuki Tsunoda delivered an impressive performance in Belgian GP qualifying — securing seventh position thanks to Red Bull’s latest floor upgrade.

The 25-year-old driver has faced challenging times since joining Red Bull at Japanese GP — collecting only seven points in the last 10 races compared to Verstappen’s 137.

Red Bull made a bold decision to provide Tsunoda with the latest spare floor before Belgian GP qualifying. This decision carried high risk — damage during qualifying could result in a parc ferme breach and issues at next week’s Hungarian GP.

“Since we went into the session with a completely different car, there were challenges, but I was happy to have the upgrade,” said Tsunoda. “The mechanics gave their all and managed to get everything ready in time for qualifying.”

Laurent Mekies, known as Tsunoda’s strong supporter, praised the driver’s performance: “It was a very good step forward throughout the weekend. We decided to take the risk to upgrade his car and the result was definitely worth it.”
