An Se-young withdraws during China Open 2025 semifinal

World number one singles player An Se-young decided to withdraw during her match against Han Yue in the China Open 2025 semifinal at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Changzhou.

The South Korean player’s withdrawal occurred when the score showed 19-21, 6-11 — allowing Han Yue to advance to the final against her compatriot, Wang Zhi Yi.

This defeat marks An’s second loss this year following her previous defeat by Chen Yu Fei in the Singapore Open 2025 quarterfinals. Host country dominance was evident — with Chinese derbies featuring in four final sectors, except men’s doubles.

At the start of the match, An managed to lead by three consecutive points and extended to 4-1. However, Han managed to level the score and turn the tide — gaining a 5-4 advantage after a long 29-shot rally.
