Kyle Larson returns to Indianapolis after Indy 500 setback

Kyle Larson returns to Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the defending Brickyard 400 champion — his first appearance since his Indianapolis 500 attempt several months ago.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver experienced misfortune in two attempts to complete the ‘Double’ — combining Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 in one day. Crashes in both races this year prevented him from achieving this challenging feat.

“I’ve always viewed this place as an amazing facility with an amazing history,” Larson told NASCAR on TNT. “I wish it would have gone better, but I’m still grateful for the opportunity.”

While not planning another ‘Double’ attempt in the near future due to logistical challenges, Larson still hopes to return to the Indy 500 — likely after his NASCAR career concludes.

Regarding impact on NASCAR performance, Larson remains winless since the ‘Double’ attempt. However, he maintains this isn’t related — noting his consistently busy schedule with various races throughout the year.
