Morocco Eliminate Ghana on Penalties to Reach WAFCON Final

According to match reports from the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, host nation Morocco secured a dramatic victory over Ghana in the WAFCON 2025 semifinal, winning 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Stella Nyamekye opened the scoring for Ghana in the 26th minute, capitalizing on a handling error by Moroccan goalkeeper Khadija Er-Rmichi following a corner kick. However, Morocco responded through a well-taken goal by Sakina Ouzraoui Diki, who was later named Player of the Match.

In the penalty shootout, Hanane Aït El Haj, Ibtissam Jraidi, Kenza Chapelle, and Anissa Lahmari all successfully converted their spot kicks for Morocco. On the Ghanaian side, Evelyn Badu missed the target, and Comfort Yeboah‘s weak effort was saved by Er-Rmichi, sealing Morocco’s spot in the final.

This result marks Morocco’s second consecutive WAFCON final appearance, after finishing as runners-up in 2022. They will now face Nigeria, who advanced to the final earlier by defeating South Africa 2-1.
