Yuya Wakamatsu ready to defend ONE Championship title in Tokyo

Yuya Wakamatsu — ONE Championship flyweight champion — faces a tough challenge in front of his home crowd when he meets Joshua Pacio at ONE 173 in Ariake Arena, Tokyo.

The bout scheduled for November 16, 2025, carries high stakes for both fighters — Wakamatsu aims to maintain his dominance after claiming the title from Adriano Moraes four months ago, while Pacio pursues the status of becoming the first Filipino two-division champion.

“I’m truly happy to fight in Japan again. It’s something special to showcase my fight in front of family and fans who have always supported me,” Wakamatsu expressed.

The fighter known as Little Piranha acknowledges that performing in front of his home crowd brings its own pressure — but also serves as additional motivation to defend his title.

“This is a belt I fought for with everything I have, a result of my life’s dedication. I won’t give it up easily,” Wakamatsu stated firmly.
