Denice Zamboanga ready for historic challenge in Tokyo

According to ONE Championship, women’s atomweight MMA champion Denice Zamboanga is preparing for her toughest test in her first title defense — facing challenger Ayaka Miura at ONE 173.

The bout scheduled at Ariake Arena, Tokyo on November 16 carries special significance — Zamboanga aims to maintain Southeast Asian dominance, while Miura has the opportunity to become the first Japanese woman to claim a ONE Championship belt.

The 28-year-old Filipino fighter known as The Menace captured the crown after defeating Alyona Rassohyna at ONE Fight Night 27 seven months ago.

“Thank you to ONE Championship for this opportunity. I believe God’s timing is always perfect and I’m honored to defend this belt against Ayaka Miura in Japan,” stated Zamboanga.

“I will bring this title to Japan and bring it back to the Philippines with pride. All glory to God.”
