Denver Summit FC – New Name for 16th NWSL Team Chosen by Fans

According to ESPN, the 16th NWSL expansion team has officially announced their identity — Denver Summit FC, a name chosen through fan voting.

Team president Jen Millet revealed that this name emerged as the favorite not only among the ownership group but also among fans who were asked to choose from six different options.

The Rocky Mountains serve as the central theme in all team branding — the logo features green mountains with snowy peaks under a red sky and orange sun, with a 26-degree slope symbolizing the team’s debut year.

The name options available in the voting included:

  • Denver Peak FC
  • Colorado 14ers FC
  • Denver Elevate FC
  • Denver FC
  • Denver Gold FC

The Denver-based team will begin their inaugural season in 2026, with plans to build a 14,500-seat stadium scheduled for completion in 2028 — making it the second stadium built specifically for an NWSL team.

“We view this club as a community asset,” said Millet. “We really want to be true to this movement that brought the club here.”

Deep green was chosen as the primary color based on fan input, inspired by classic Colorado license plates, while the sandstone red sky in the logo pays tribute to the iconic red rock formations around Denver.
