Mees Hilgers rejects transfer offers to pursue career outside Netherlands

Indonesian national team defender Mees Hilgers has reportedly turned down multiple transfer offers from various clubs — the FC Twente player has chosen to pursue his career outside the Netherlands.

Hilgers‘ contract with FC Twente will expire in June 2026, but both parties have agreed to part ways during this summer’s transfer window.

This decision was announced by Hilgers following FC Twente’s final match of the 2024-2025 season — the Manado-descended defender confirmed he would not extend his contract.

Despite being placed on the club’s transfer list, the 24-year-old player has yet to find his new club by late July — this is due to his rejection of several incoming offers.
