An Se-young claims 33rd title after winning Japan Open 2025

According to BWF Badminton, An Se-young maintained her dominance at the Japan Open 2025 by defeating Chinese representative Wang Zhi Yi with scores of 21-12, 21-10 in 42 minutes.

The South Korean shuttler displayed impressive performance — securing her 33rd career title with the fastest final victory this year.

On her path to the championship, An Se-young had to face tough rival Chen Yu Fei in the quarter-finals — the player who previously handed her first defeat this year at Singapore Open 2025.

“I spent a lot of time thinking deeply about how to approach this match, and I also trained extensively,” An stated.

“After Indonesia Open, I worked hard to improve areas where I felt my performance was lacking. I feel honored to win this title for the second time.”

This tournament proved An Se-young’s fitness after undergoing intensive training under the guidance of former Japanese national team head coach, Park Joo-bong.
