Hugo Ekitike Joins Liverpool in £79m Deal from Frankfurt

According to ESPN, Hugo Ekitike is set to join Liverpool after the club agreed a £79 million transfer deal with Eintracht Frankfurt — consisting of £69 million upfront and £10 million in add-ons.

The French striker has agreed to a six-year contract and will undergo a medical test in the coming days. Despite interest from Newcastle United and Manchester United, Ekitike chose to join Liverpool.

Newcastle had previously failed to sign Ekitike after their £64.5 million bid was rejected by Frankfurt. Paris Saint-Germain, his former club, will receive 20% of the transfer fee, approximately £13.8 million.

The 22-year-old has already spoken with Liverpool head coach Arne Slot, who plans to use him as the team’s main striker. Last season, Ekitike scored 15 goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances for Frankfurt, the club he joined in February last year.
