Thibaut Courtois Extends Real Madrid Contract until 2027

According to ESPN, Thibaut Courtois has agreed to a contract extension with Real Madrid until June 2027 — his previous contract was set to expire next year.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper joined Los Blancos in 2018 and has proven himself as one of the world’s best goalkeepers — winning two Champions League trophies and three LaLiga titles at Santiago Bernabéu.

Although the club’s policy typically extends contracts for players over 30 on a yearly basis, Real Madrid took a different approach with Courtois — securing his future for the next two seasons due to his crucial role in the team.

“We’re lucky to have Thibaut as our goalkeeper. He’s one of those goalkeepers who wins you games,” said coach Xabi Alonso.

Courtois’s career journey began at Genk, Belgium, before joining Chelsea in 2011. After three years on loan at Atletico Madrid and four seasons at Stamford Bridge — he finally landed at Real Madrid in 2018.
