Pato O’Ward claims back-to-back victories at IndyCar Toronto

Pato O’Ward claimed victory at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto on Sunday — his second win in consecutive weeks following his success at Iowa Speedway.

The 26-year-old Mexican driver executed a perfect pit stop strategy early in the race — switching from alternate to primary tires that proved more durable.

“I didn’t expect to win today,” said O’Ward. “But I felt really comfortable with the prime tires all weekend. The crew was perfect with the strategy.”

Second place went to Rinus VeeKay from Dale Coyne Racing, while Kyffin Simpson of Chip Ganassi Racing finished third — his first IndyCar podium.

The race featured several incidents:

  • Scott McLaughlin lost a wheel after early pit stop
  • Collision between Christian Rasmussen and Will Power
  • Incident involving Jacob Abel and Josef Newgarden
  • Late race crash between Nolan Siegel and Felix Rosenqvist

The IndyCar series continues at the Java House Grand Prix of Monterey on July 27, with four races remaining in the 2025 season.
