Marcus Rashford arrives in Barcelona for medical tests

Marcus Rashford has arrived in Barcelona on Sunday to complete a season-long loan move from Manchester United.

The 27-year-old forward is scheduled to undergo medical tests early this week — before the team departs for their pre-season Asian tour on Thursday. Coach Hansi Flick hopes to bring Rashford to Japan and South Korea to provide sufficient adaptation time before the season begins.

Barcelona has included a €30 million permanent purchase option for next season. The arrival of this left-winger became the club’s priority after failing to secure Nico Williams who extended his contract at Athletic Club and Luis Díaz who remained at Liverpool.

Rashford — who is not in United coach Ruben Amorim’s plans — last played in December against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League. A six-month loan to Aston Villa also did not result in a permanent transfer.

The England international striker will join Barcelona’s attacking line that already features Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo.
