After Big Win, Thailand U-23 Coach Praises Indonesian Team’s Quality

According to Bolasport.com, Thailand U-23 coach Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul praised the Indonesian U-23 National Team — a squad he considers of high quality as a potential semifinal opponent in the ASEAN Cup U-23 2025.

Thailand U-23 defeated Timor Leste with a convincing 4-0 score in their Group C opener at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi. This victory puts Thailand at the top of Group C with three points — ahead of Myanmar who previously drew 4-4 against Timor Leste.

Despite the substantial win, Thawatchai admits he’s not entirely satisfied with his team’s performance. The War Elephants still need improvement — particularly in ball possession where they were less dominant than Timor Leste.

“Indonesia is a good and great team. We need to improve our performance if we want to reach the semifinals,” said Thawatchai.
