De Bruyne Joins Napoli After a Decade at Manchester City

Speaking directly to reporters, Kevin De Bruyne revealed his reasons for moving to Napoli after a decade-long career at Manchester City.

“I have been in the Premier League for so long and in the end I decided to go out of England. I have done what I have done and in the end I am a Man City player for life,” De Bruyne stated.

The 34-year-old midfielder joined Napoli on a free transfer last month — a decision made after not receiving a contract extension offer from City.

The presence of Belgian national teammate Romelu Lukaku became a crucial factor for De Bruyne’s adaptation to Antonio Conte’s team. The two players have maintained friendship since age 13 and previously lived together during their time at Chelsea.

Napoli will begin their 2025-26 Serie A campaign against Sassuolo on August 13.
