Real Madrid Breaks Internal Rules to Extend Courtois’ Contract

According to Fabrizio Romano, Thibaut Courtois has reached an agreement with Real Madrid to extend his contract until June 2027 — a decision that breaks the club’s internal rules.

Los Blancos decided to disregard their long-standing policy of only offering one-year contracts to players over 30 years old. The Belgian goalkeeper, now 33 years old — receives a two-year extension from his previous contract that was set to expire in June 2026.

According to Football Espana, this decision demonstrates how Real Madrid is willing to make special exceptions to retain their key goalkeeper — even though it contradicts rules they have strictly followed until now.
