Host nation disappointed at Japan Open as Yamaguchi and Matsuyama/Shida eliminated

Third seed Akane Yamaguchi had to acknowledge the superiority of Chinese representative Wang Zhi Yi with a score of 15-21, 18-21. The former world badminton queen struggled to match the Asian Champion’s game from the start of the match.

Another defeat came from the women’s doubles sector — second-seeded pair Nami Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida were powerless against Malaysian representatives Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan. The match, which lasted only 36 minutes, ended with a decisive score of 13-21, 11-21.
