Malaysia U-23 wins big but still faces elimination threat in ASEAN Cup

Malaysia U-23 national team achieved a decisive 7-1 victory over Brunei Darussalam at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta — yet their position in Group A of the 2025 ASEAN Cup U-23 remains precarious.

Malaysia’s seven goals were scored by Danish Syamer (3rd minute), Mohammad Nazry Aiman (own goal 4th minute), Muhammad Haykal Danish (32nd minute), Muhammad Haqimi Azim (42nd and 89th minutes), Danish Hakimi (69th minute), and Fergus Tierney (76th minute). Brunei’s lone goal came from Haziq Naqiuddin Syamra in the 74th minute.

Nafuzi Zain‘s team now sits third in Group A with three points — equal to Philippines in second place, while Indonesia leads the group with six points from two matches.
