Philippines U-23 coach disappointed with loss due to Robi Darwis’s long throw

According to Bolasport.com, Philippines U-23 national team coach Garrath McPherson expressed his disappointment after his team lost to Indonesia in the ASEAN Cup U-23 2025 match at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta.

Indonesia U-23 national team secured a narrow 0-1 victory over Philippines — with Jaime Rosquillo‘s own goal in the 23rd minute originating from Robi Darwis‘s long throw-in.

Although Indonesia dominated the match from the start, Philippines managed to make the home team struggle to create chances — until finally conceding through a set-piece situation that made the difference.

Darwis’s long throw caused Rosquillo to fail in clearing the ball with his header — which hit the crossbar and turned into his own net.
