WRT Team in Talks to Take Over BMW’s IMSA Program Next Season

Belgian WRT team is in negotiations to take over BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDh program in the IMSA SportsCar championship, according to shaiba.kz. This change comes as BMW decided not to extend its partnership with Rahal Letterman Lanigan team.

WRT boss Vincent Vosse expressed his team’s readiness — they could run a GTP campaign starting next season if the opportunity arises. BMW has yet to announce detailed plans for M Hybrid’s fourth season in North America.

BMW M Motorsport Director Andreas Roos confirmed their commitment to continue competing in IMSA’s top class. The German manufacturer has integrated their LMDh programs by placing WEC regular drivers Dries Vanthoor and Sheldon van der Linde with the team for the full season.

WRT has IMSA experience through their Daytona 24 Hours appearances — securing third place in GT Daytona class with an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo. While Rahal’s partnership with BMW dating back to 2009 will end, discussions for other projects continue.
