Liu/Yang advance to Japan Open semifinals after fierce battle with Azryin/Tan

Taiwan’s men’s doubles pair Liu Kuang Heng/Yang Po Han have secured their spot in the Japan Open 2025 semifinals after defeating Malaysian representatives Nur Mohd Azryin Ayub Azryin/Tan Wee Kiong at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Japan.

The dramatic match lasted 68 minutes — Liu/Yang eventually prevailed with scores of 18-21, 25-23, 21-17. This victory sets them up for a clash against either Indonesian pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri or Malaysian duo Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin.

In the opening game, world number 24 Liu/Yang immediately took control — securing seven consecutive points. Despite falling behind 7-0, Azryin/Tan showed resilience and gradually fought back by claiming four straight points.
