Jose Mourinho reveals desire to return coaching in Portugal

Jose Mourinho has revealed his plans to return to coaching in Portugal — his homeland he left in 2004. The 62-year-old current Fenerbahce manager emphasizes that his return won’t be for retirement.

“I’m definitely coming to Portugal. It hasn’t happened yet, but it will,” Mourinho told Sport TV after a friendly match against Portimonense in Albufeira.

“I don’t want to come to Portugal for a golden retirement or for the last years of my career. I want to come when I’m at my peak, in good physical and mental condition.”

The experienced coach has achieved remarkable success with 26 major trophies across various elite European clubs — including Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Roma. When asked about his preference between club or national team management, Mourinho expressed openness to both options.

Fenerbahce under Mourinho’s leadership recently finished as runners-up in the Turkish Super League, behind Galatasaray.
