Facing the top seeds and defending champions Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, the Indonesian duo lost with a score of 13-21, 21-17, 20-22 — after failing to convert match point at 20-19 in the deciding game.

In the early stages, Goh/Nur led 4-1, but Fajar’s aggressive net play brought the Indonesians level at 4-4. Momentum shifted briefly to Fajar/Fikri, who went ahead 7-4 with sharp and precise shots.
