Malaysia withdraws from CAFA Nations Cup, ready for Pestabola Merdeka

According to fam.org.my, coach Peter Cklamovski is considering Malaysia national team’s participation in Pestabola Merdeka 2025 after deciding to withdraw from CAFA Nations Cup 2025.

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) announced their withdrawal from the tournament — schedule changes outside FIFA calendar being the main reason for this decision.

“Football Association of Malaysia would like to inform that Malaysia national squad will not participate in CAFA Nations Cup 2025,” stated FAM’s official announcement.

Previously, Harimau Malaya also declined a friendly match offer from Indonesia national team due to having their own agenda.

As alternatives, Malaysia national team plans to hold a training camp in September — preparation for Asian Cup Qualifiers, or participate in Pestabola Merdeka 2025 tournament.
