Graham Arnold Confident in Leading Iraq to 2026 World Cup

According to Iraq national team’s Instagram @iraqnt_en, Iraq national team coach Graham Arnold has responded to the fourth round draw of 2026 World Cup Qualifiers — his team is placed in Group B with Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.

“I’m very happy and enthusiastic about this draw result. We will be fully focused, motivated, and ready for the upcoming Asian play-offs,” Arnold stated.

Graham Arnold has special experience against both teams — he previously coached Australia when they drew 0-0 against Indonesia in Jakarta before eventually joining Iraq in May 2025.

The 61-year-old coach emphasized his confidence in Iraq’s chances — the team with the highest FIFA ranking in the group will compete at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Jeddah.

Iraq’s match schedule has been set:

  • Against Indonesia on October 11, 2025
  • Facing Saudi Arabia on October 14, 2025

The group winner will directly qualify for the 2026 World Cup, while the runner-up will have a chance to continue their campaign in the fifth round of AFC qualifiers.
