Toyota Strongly Criticizes Boring 2025 WEC Season

Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe Technical Director, David Floury, has expressed sharp criticism regarding the quality of the 2025 World Endurance Championship (WEC) — calling it a “sad season” devoid of proper racing.

This criticism follows Cadillac’s dominance at the Sao Paulo 6 Hours — where both Toyota GR010 HYBRID Le Mans Hypercars finished only 14th and 15th, three laps behind the leader.

Ferrari has dominated the early season series:

  • Qatar race
  • Imola round
  • Spa victory
  • Le Mans 24 Hours success

“This season is really sad because we’ve lost sight of what racing is all about and it has become far too artificial,” stated Floury.

The new performance balancing system implemented this year has had the opposite effect — rather than equalizing competition, it has created larger gaps between teams. Floury emphasizes the need for an urgent solution for the championship’s benefit.
