According to reports from Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Kenta Nishimoto had to acknowledge defeat against Taiwan’s Chi Yu Jen in the Japan Open 2025 round of 16 on Thursday (17/7).

The home player initially held a convincing lead — but ultimately suffered a loss in straight games.

Nishimoto started the match brilliantly by scoring three consecutive points — then maintained his advantage until the interval with a score of 11-8.

After the break, the Japanese singles player increased his dominance by widening the gap to 15-11 — even leading comfortably at 18-12.

However, the game’s momentum shifted dramatically when Chi Yu Jen rallied with five straight points — bringing the score to 18-17, though Nishimoto managed to add one more point for a 19-17 position.
