An Se-young shows results of intense training with Park Joo-bong at Japan Open

An Se-young‘s quick victory in the first round of Japan Open 2025 — lasting only 38 minutes — is the result of an intensive training program under Park Joo-bong‘s direction.

After winning Indonesia Open 2025, the South Korean athlete attended a training camp at Jincheon National Athletes’ Village during June — the first program led by Park since leaving the Japanese national team.

Despite claiming various Super 1000 titles this year — including Malaysia Open, All England Open, and Indonesia Open — Park believes the Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalist still has weaknesses that need improvement.

“An Se-young is too defensive in her play. She needs to develop a more aggressive style for attacking,” Park stated.

To address this, Park’s specially designed training program emphasizes footwork development — aimed at enhancing An Se-young’s attacking capabilities.
