Katherine Legge: From rejecting pink car to becoming NASCAR’s power symbol

Katherine Legge, the 44-year-old British driver, admits she initially rejected the design of a pink race car with e.l.f. Cosmetics branding — yet this decision opened a new chapter in her career.

Throughout years of racing in a male-dominated sport, Legge always strived to build her reputation on ability — not gender. However, the partnership with e.l.f. Cosmetics that began in 2023 transformed her perspective.

“It was the best thing that ever happened because it started this girl power movement,” Legge states.

The transition to NASCAR brought its own challenges — from adapting to a 3,400-pound stock car to team communications.

“It’s a totally different sport… I have to consciously think about everything because it doesn’t feel like it’s an extension of me yet,” she explains.

Legge’s NASCAR achievements are becoming evident — she became the first woman to secure a top-20 finish in a Cup Series race since Danica Patrick in 2017. Her extensive experience across various racing categories provides a competitive edge.

The e.l.f. partnership proves that femininity and toughness can coexist — the pink car she once rejected now stands as an inspiration symbol for future generations of female racers.
