Lucas Vázquez leaves Real Madrid after glorious era

Lucas Vázquez — a key figure during Real Madrid’s golden era — has announced his departure from the Spanish giants.

“I’m leaving Real Madrid, but Real Madrid will never leave me. Wherever I go, I will proudly say that I had the honor of playing for the best team in the world,” Vázquez stated through social media.

The 34-year-old player has carved an impressive legacy — making 402 appearances and collecting 23 trophies, including five Champions League titles and four LaLiga championships.

Club president Florentino Pérez praised Vázquez’s dedication: “He symbolizes hard work, perseverance, humility, and winning spirit that are essential for success in this shirt.”

Vázquez’s journey with Los Blancos began in 2007 when he joined the club’s youth academy, before eventually making his first-team debut in 2015 — following a loan spell at Espanyol.

His departure marks a transitional period for the club heading into the 2025-26 season, coinciding with Luka Modric’s move to AC Milan and the coaching change from Carlo Ancelotti to Xabi Alonso.
