Lamine Yamal officially receives Barcelona’s number 10 jersey after contract extension

According to Bolasport.com, Lamine Yamal was officially presented as Barcelona’s number 10 at Spotify Camp Nou — after signing a contract extension until June 2031.

The 18-year-old posed with his new jersey alongside Barcelona President Joan Laporta — a number previously worn by legends such as Diego Maradona, Ronaldinho, and Lionel Messi.

This sacred number inheritance brings great expectations, but Yamal tries to distance himself from comparisons to his predecessors — especially Messi who left the club in 2021 to join PSG.

Before Yamal, the number 10 was inherited by Ansu Fati — who unfortunately couldn’t maximize the opportunity due to a series of injuries.
