Luka Modric reveals reason for joining AC Milan

Luka Modric conducted his first interview as an AC Milan player on Wednesday (16/7/2025) — revealing the motivation behind his move to the Serie A club.

The 39-year-old midfielder joined I Rossoneri on a free transfer after his contract expired at Real Madrid — a club he served for 13 years.

For Modric, joining Milan represents a childhood dream fulfilled — particularly due to the influence of Croatian legend Zvonimir Boban who represented the club from 1991 to 2001.

“When I was young, I often watched Serie A and AC Milan was my favorite team. Also because my idol, Boban, played there,” Modric told Milan TV.

“I received other offers, but when Milan contacted me, it was clear for me. I wanted to join them from the start,” added the six-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid.
