Talon Esports Confident in New Map Pool Rotation

After a huge win on Day 1 of VCT Pacific 2025: Stage 2, Talon Esports’ Valorant squad feels optimistic about utilizing the new adjustment to go further in the tournament and redeem last season’s poor performance.

The Thai Pride was initially expected to struggle against Boom Esports, who entered with renewed energy after a surprising playoff loss in Stage 1. Talon also lacked Peter “Governor” No and Joseph “ban” Seungmin Oh—fan favorites known for stellar plays—raising doubts about their new roster.

Those doubts ended with Talon’s dominant play. Despite facing tough resistance late in the first game, the team led by Thanamethk “Crws” Mahatthananuyut snowballed in the second game, rolling over their opponents with a one-sided score that stunned Pacific Stage 2 viewers.

This win puts Talon narrowly ahead of SEA rivals Paper Rex at the top of the early Group Omega standings. Head coach Hector “Frost” Rosario called the strong start a “valuable momentum” to boost his team’s morale for upcoming weeks.

Frost also expressed confidence in their chances, especially with the return of the map Abyss to the VCT map pool. Post-match against Boom, he stated his team could maximize its potential on this map.

“Abyss coming back is nice because Crws and I like Abyss. And it was really sad we were not able to use our Abyss last year going into Champions. But I’m fine with whatever, we’re professionals.”

Within next week, Talon is set to face Japanese teams Zeta Division and Detonation FocusMe—both coming off underwhelming Stage 1 performances. This surely gives Talon a prime opportunity to secure more points for playoff qualification.
