Adrian Newey Prioritizes Aston Martin 2026 Over AMR25?

Legendary designer Adrian Newey made a rare appearance at Silverstone during the British Grand Prix, though his focus remains firmly on the 2026 Aston Martin car project.

Fernando Alonso shared an amusing insight into Newey’s current mindset: “He’s really motivated, but it’s true this year’s car doesn’t excite him. Every time we ask about current car development, he walks into another room — he’s already in 2026 mode.”

This approach aligns with Newey’s longstanding philosophy — avoiding involvement in legacy car projects when joining a new team. Since winning 12 constructors’ titles since 1992, he has preferred building from a clean slate.

Despite Newey’s future focus, the team continues to push updates to the current car. A new floor upgrade was applied to the AMR25, including a new aerodynamic “fence” that brought small but measurable improvements.

“The car feels better and the data shows gains in certain parts of the track,” said Alonso.
