Leicester City have appointed Marti Cifuentes as their new head coach on a three-year contract. The Championship club announced the appointment on Tuesday.

The decision comes after Leicester parted ways with Ruud van Nistelrooy last month — following the club’s relegation from the Premier League after finishing 18th.

“This is a fantastic club with a proud history and it’s a privilege to me to be asked to help write the next chapter,” said Cifuentes in Leicester’s official statement.

The 43-year-old Spanish coach previously managed Hammarby — leading the club to a Swedish Cup final and UEFA Conference League qualification. He then coached QPR from October 2023 until last April, guiding the club to a 15th-place Championship finish.

Leicester will begin their 2025-26 Championship campaign hosting Sheffield Wednesday on August 10.
