MLS Reaches New Agreement on FIFA Club World Cup Prize Money

According to ESPN, Major League Soccer (MLS) has reached a new agreement with the Players Association regarding FIFA Club World Cup prize money distribution.

The deal signed in late June provides significant increases — minimum 40% above the previous $1 million cap and additional 30% of all performance-based prizes without maximum limits.

“This agreement provides meaningful enhancements that go well beyond what is required by our CBA and deliver substantial value to the players,” said Dan Courtemanche, MLS chief communications officer.

Team earnings breakdown:

  • Inter Miami earned $4.7 million total — including participation rewards, group performance, and round of 16 achievement
  • Seattle Sounders received $1.4 million from participation and group stage
  • LAFC collected $1.8 million from combined participation, qualification, and group performance

This agreement won’t apply to the next Club World Cup in 2029, as the current CBA expires in 2028.
