An Se-young defeats Ratchanok Intanon in Japan Open first round

World number one women’s singles player An Se-young began her Japan Open 2025 campaign with a convincing victory. The South Korean star overcame former world number one Ratchanok Intanon in a match at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Tuesday (15/7).

An Se-young completed the match with scores of 21-14, 21-11 — demonstrating her dominance on court in a brief encounter.

In the early stages, Intanon managed to lead 2-0 through precise dropshots. However, this advantage was short-lived — An Se-young quickly turned the tide to 3-2 and continued to extend her lead until the first game interval with a score of 11-4.
