Gregoria Mariska falls in Japan Open 2025 first round

Gregoria Mariska Tunjung suffered a defeat in her comeback match at the Japan Open 2025 held at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Japan.

The Indonesian women’s singles player — who just returned after a three-month absence due to vertigo — failed to show her best performance against home representative Riko Gunji in the round of 32.

The former 2017 junior world champion struggled with court movement — heavy footwork led to many points lost due to unforced errors. Gregoria trailed from the start with scores from 4-6 to 7-11.
