Newcastle United Set to Break Transfer Record for Frankfurt Striker

Newcastle United are on the brink of securing an €80 million deal with Eintracht Frankfurt for striker Hugo Ekitike — a move that will break the club’s transfer record, according to ESPN.

The player’s agent, Ali Barat, is currently in Newcastle to finalize the last details of the agreement — which will surpass Alexander Isak’s €70 million transfer from three years ago.

The 23-year-old striker has agreed to a five-year contract and is ready for his medical examination. Paris Saint-Germain — his former club — will receive 20% of the transfer fee.

Manager Eddie Howe sought a striker to partner with Isak and believes Ekitike will be an ideal complement to the Swedish forward. Last season, Ekitike impressed in the Bundesliga with 22 goals and 12 assists from 48 appearances across all competitions.

Despite not yet receiving a senior France call-up, the successful U-21 player hopes his opportunity to play in the Premier League and Champions League with Newcastle will open the door for Didier Deschamps to select him.
