Marc Marquez urges safety improvements at Sachsenring Circuit

Marc Marquez of Ducati Lenovo team — fresh from winning the 2025 German MotoGP — has raised concerns about safety standards at the Sachsenring Circuit.

The historic circuit that has been part of the MotoGP calendar since 1998 set a new record with 256,441 spectators last weekend — however several crash incidents have raised questions about track safety.

Multiple accidents involving motorcycles hitting air barriers resulted in the Moto2 race being red-flagged at the first corner.

“Yes, of course this is one of my favorite racing tracks. However, some walls are at their limit, especially in wet conditions because when you fall in wet conditions, your speed seems to increase when touching the asphalt,” stated Marquez.

While Sachsenring’s contract is scheduled to end in 2026, the rider with nine victories at this circuit emphasizes the need for safety modifications before contract extension.
